Egg in a Basket is one of the easiest and most delicious egg-centric breakfasts out there--and it takes just 5 minutes to make. Start with a thick slice of your favorite bread, carve out a small hole, place over a hot buttered skillet and crack an egg into the center! Cook over medium heat until the egg is set and the toast is crisp and golden. Breakfast is served.
Egg in a Basket (Serves 1)
- 1 slice of your favorite bread
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1 egg
- salt
- black pepper
- Heat a small skillet on medium-high heat.
- With a small biscuit cutter (or simply a knife) remove center from bread. Butter the bread on one side only. Grill bread, butter side down, until lightly toasted. Crack an egg into the bread hole, being careful not to break the yolk. Cook until egg has reached desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
